Prayer Before You Drive

Via Dr. Russel E. Cadle of Friendship Ministries Foundation:

For the past few years I have stopped every morning at the end of my driveway, put my car in park and prayed the following prayer:

“Father God, as I head to work today, help me to choose to think the thoughts that will honor you and help others. Help me to discipline my mind to think about whatever is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, or praiseworthy (Philippians 4:8).

Help my attitude to be like that of my Lord, Jesus Christ. Remind me throughout the day that I am a servant, that I am to be humble, and that I am to be merciful and forgiving (Philippians 2:5).

Help me Lord to speak words that build people up, not tear them down, bless not bruise. Help me to guard my tongue so I help people and show grace (Ephesians 4:29).

Please guide me Holy Spirit through my actions and behavior that they would honor you and bring glory to your Holy Name (Colossians 3:23).

In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

This prayer takes about 60 seconds to pray, but it is the most productive investment I can make as I begin my day and head to work.

Praying in the Driveway,
