As many of you know, Industrial Finishes recently built a hot rod. The story of how the car came to be is unique, having started out on paper as a Photoshop file. Later, a group of dedicated “Car Guys” brought the car to life.

You can read all about it here.

The posters proved so popular that we quickly ran out. Since so many people have seen the actual hot rod at customer events, shows and street cruises, we decided to revise the poster to include the real car instead of the Photoshop file.

Thus, “I.F. Hot Rod Poster – The Sequel” was born! You can request your free copy here!

As we approach the summer months, Industrial Finishes wants you to stay safe and Happy Hot Rodding!

Recently, Industrial Finishes & Systems and our supplier partner, Hybrid Coatings Technology, was invited to visit with the Environmental Protection Agency in Washington DC to discuss TRUE Green Poly.

As the recipient of the EPA’s Presidential Green Chemistry Award, the EPA wanted to follow up with Hybrid Coating Technologies regarding commercialization and marketing of their isocyanate-free floor coatings and paints. We were invited along to discuss our efforts to bring the product to market.

Our hosts were Tracy Williamson, Chief of the Industrial Chemistry Branch, and David Widawsky of the Chemical, Economic and Sustainable Strategies Division. Both were very excited to hear that TRUE Green Poly is available and that we’ve had some success with customers such as the University of Oregon.

The EPA put us in touch with other government organizations who can help make people aware that an actual isocyanate-free, no-VOC paint is readily available for purchase. The Army Material Command, the Federal Environmental Preferable Purchasing Organization, Suppliers Partnership for the Environment, the EPA Safer Choice Program, and the USDA Bio-Preferred Program were among the agencies with whom they recommend forming a relationship.

It was an honor to be invited and to meet with the EPA. We’re very enthusiastic about the future of TRUE Green Poly, and it’s encouraging to see that the EPA shares our enthusiasm. For more information, contact Industrial Finishes & Systems.

Attracting young people to the automotive industry is a growing concern. Our collision repair and custom car builder clients know that finding qualified people for open positions isn’t getting any easier. This challenging reality extends beyond body and paint. It touches all aspects of the industry from design to production and beyond.

Industrial Finishes & Systems is concerned about our industry, our passion for cars, and (most importantly) our children and students. We want to do our part to encourage young people to consider a career in the automotive world. Many young people have the talent, skill and desire to work with vehicles. They often lack the guidance or opportunity.

At the 2016 Portland Roadster Show, Industrial Finishes & Systems hosted a young man with extraordinary talent for automotive design. Lorenzo Fantozzi is a college student and automotive artist from Eugene, Oregon.

You can view an amazing video of his work here.

Lorenzo started drawing seven years ago at the young age of 14 mainly as a hobby. He was inspired by many artists but most notably, Chip Foose, who after a brief meeting inspired him to pick up a pencil. His passion is drawing cars but, planes, architecture, and anything that has a shine to it can become one of his subjects.

He is currently a student attending Oregon State University and will soon receive  his bachelors degree in Business Administration and Entrepreneurship.

Students such as Lorenzo represent the future of our industry, and Industrial Finishes & Systems is proud to help support such a good young man as he polishes his skills and pursues his dreams.
